How to Read Lab Results Online

View and understand your lab test results through your clinic's patient portal or MyChart.

Steps

Log in to your patient portal
using your clinic website or the MyChart app. Look for "Test Results" or "Labs" in the main menu.

Click on the latest lab result
to open the details. Results are listed by date with the newest results appearing first.

Look at the reference range
next to each result. This shows the normal range of values for that test. Your result is compared to this range.

Check for flags or markers
next to your results. A red flag or "H" or "L" means the result is above or below the normal range.

Send a message to your doctor
through the portal if you have questions about any result. Do not change medications based on results alone without talking to your doctor.
